Lion 10.8.1 & WD TV Live 1.11.14 Help?

Hi Everyone, 

Its my first post so go easy on me lol. I brought a wd tv live this afternoon from a uk retailer. i brought it home and tried to

get it working with my macbook pro running lion 10.8.1. However, after numerous attempts i was getting no where.

So i googled this issue and found out i was not alone. Many people seemed to resolve the issue using WD’s work around however, from what i understand this only worked for 10.5 and 10.6. 

I have tried neally everything people have suggested on this forum, i even tried connecting to the server as suggested in a forum post i came across, but i am having no luck. I have had to resort to using TVMOBiLi which is currently doing the job, but ultimately i would like to use the wd tv live software. After all i paid £70.00 for it.

Please can someone who has the current software named above, help me?

I am trying to access the movies folder on my mac so i can stream the movies through the wd tv live.

When i click on finder i can see the ‘‘wd tv live’’ on the left hand side under ‘‘shares’’ however, when i try to connect to server i just keep getting the error message ‘‘There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem.’’

i have tried everyway possible as described on these forums, can an experienced member possibl imessage me and help me troubleshoot please?

had i known it was this difficult to setup what seems to be such an easy product to work, i would not have brought it lol.

any more suggestions?
