Lifeguard test failed on little used disc

Hi

I would like to ask you for advice. I have My Passport 2 TB external hard drive (2 years old). I use this device only as backup drive for my laptop. I use this device very little (it is connected to laptop approximate one time per two weeks to update backup of documents on laptop, disc was never fully filled since I bought it (I bought new drive…), disc was not physically damaged - it is in fall proof case and never falled). Yesterday I run Lifeguard Diagnostic full test and test stopped with error , and after closing test is informed me that there are too many bad sectors on my disc  .
Could you help me to explain how is it possible? Is Lifeguard diagnostic reliable, or it may be manufactoring defect? Is there another tool which could give more informations about disc state?

Thanks!

Hello,

I recommend you run the test using another USB cable and connected to another USB port, if possible try on another computer. Try running a quick test and then an extended test.

Hi,
