Large file missing but storage space is still used

A 2.5 TB folder has disappeared from my 8TB My Cloud EX4. It was stored in a shared folder named “public”. This is the second time this has happened in 6 months. The last incident was a much smaller folder that I had backed up on another drive, so I just added it again. This folder is much larger and I do not have it backed up. The EX4 still shows that the space is being used. How do I get my folder back? More importantly, how do I not lose 2.5 TB of storage on my drive? please help…

Oops. It would appear my kids moved the folder into another folder. I located it when backing up all my remaining files to a removable drive.
