Laptop Stops Recognizing my WDH1U5000N Ext Drive

All,

Recently, my laptop has been unable to recognize my WDH1U5000N external drive when connected. The laptop which runs Windows XP, beeps but the external drive fails to appear in the folders map as it used to. I’d like to note that my local disk drive is E: \ (not C:) and that it was never a problem before. 

Has anyone been aware of this problem? Any troubleshooting tips for it?

Hello wdpal, check if the My Book is recognized on the disk management window, if possible also try using another USB cable. Check the link below fore more information.
