Just bought WD 2tb sharespace

Hi all!

New to this product and community so please be gentle.

I started by mapping the drive and then by transferring all my stuff from my old seagate 2tb external drive to the sharespace. It was transferring at about 13mb/s and after a particular folder was finished i upgraded the firmware and i’m now seeing transfer speeds of 8mb/s. I’ve read in the community there are issues with some of the firmware updates so i’m wondering how often WD release updates for this product? or if there are any remedies i can try to speed it up a little. I even tried giving my pc a static ip and same goes for the router and connecting them both together with a single cable, no switches or hubs and seen so improvement in the transfer speed.

Unlike the WDTV’s WD only releases updates occasionally for their NAS’s (at least as far as I’ve seen). However they are BIG updates and generally solve a number of issues. There was one bad firmware that seems to have been pulled, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see another one posted in the realtivly near future to replace it. I could be wrong however…
