Java required?

OK, after fighting the myCloud device for a few weeks, and having to buy a new external drive, I have things working.  So far, this myCloud has cost me $170 and then $200 for the new external.  NOW, I find that, despite the assurances from WD that we can access our device from anywhere using a browser, I discover that JAVA is required???  This is pretty ****** up.  JAVA is one of the dangers of the internet.  If I am at a libraryor someone’s office, I cannot install JAVA on their syste.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU NOT MAKE A STAND ALONE APPLICATION?

I need some answers quick, before I ask WD to refund every penny I have invested in this “easy-to-set-up” device.  I got it in February, and only now is it working properly, after being forced to spend a couple hundred dollars more.  NOW, I discover this JAVA [Deleted]?

Hey, someone at WD - have [Deleted] in TIER 2 contact me.  He has my numbers.

Yep. and ftp instead of sftp and so on. There is an idea forum where users request these and more. go there and add your vote please.
