Issue with Passport Ultra

Within the past two days I have been getting messages that there is a problem with my Passport Ultra and I need to scan to fix the problem. My operating system is Windows 10. The Passport is out of warranty. I was able to copy the files and folders on that drive to another external drive.

  1. Is the Passport dying?
  2. Should I reformat the Passport?


Do you have WD Drive Utilities? If so you can use it to do several tests to determine if the drive is failing. If that does not help, You can also use Utilities to Erase (which reformates) the drive and start over, since you have saved your files.
