Is WD30EFRX compatible with SATA II?

Hi all,

I would like to buy WD30EFRX (WD RED 3TB) and connect it to a SATA II interface (in order to build a simple NAS).

Does anybody know any of these:
a) Will this product work with SATA II interface or not?
b) Does jumper settings work on this model or not? If not, then it does not work at all?

I search in forum, but with no luck.

My simple NAS board is cubietruck ( http://cubieboard.org/)

Thanks in advance,
Adrianos.

Hi adrianos8. WD drives can auto-negiotiate to lower SATA modes if the controller doesn’t support the drives native mode. The jumper settings may not work on newer builds of drives. If the drive doesn’t seem to work on the controller for some reason you can contact our support and they can assist you if the controller and drive are not auto-negiotiating. I included a link below that may help if you come across the issue.

I would also make sure that your Cubieboard will support a 3 TB drive. I know that some systems cannot accept a drive that is over 2 TB because of system limitations.

Finally I got my Cubietruck AND a WD Red 3TB (WD30EFRX).

I installed Debian Wheezy on it. Then I add WD Red and format (EXT4) using gdisk (one partition of 3TB).

WD Red works ok, even Cubietruck supports SATA II.

My only problem is that gdisk recognizes my disk as 3TB, but df recognizes it as 2 TB.
