Is this normal?

I have bought a 5TB portable hard drive. it is NEW and suppose to be empty, it looks empty, but when I checked properties it says that it has 278MB taken, I can’t see any files in it though. Is that suppose to be like that?

i wouldn’t worry about a measly 278MB (Megabytes) being taken.
