Is there a way to test the fan without SSH?

I’ve tried many times logging into SSH but it refuses the password. I do system tests and they intermittently tell me there’s an error with the fan. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. I would like to know if there’s a way to manually spool up the fan without using SSH, just so I can be sure it actually works.

Did you logon as user “root” using the same password for the dashboard?

I attempt to log in using “ssh root@[IP Address]” and then it asks for password. Nothing populates when I type so I assume that is a measure to keep the character count of the password hidden. I copy the password I set in the MyCloud dashboard when I activated SSH, but it denies.

What tool are you using to SSH? I use Putty. SSH uses Port 22. Make sure you’ve enabled SSH in the Dashboard. You should be able to change the SSH password there.

Bear in mind I have no idea how to test the fans once you’re in. I have an old EX4. The fans spin up fast when I first power on. Periodically, I pull all the drives and used compressed air to clean it out.

I am just using Command Prompt with administrator access on my PC. I enabled SSH in the dashboard and set a password. Command prompt recognizes what I’m trying to access as it asks for a password, but it denies every time I try to enter it.

There’s a list of commands you can use to make the fan do things so I’m not concerned about that. My only issue is gaining access.

I’ve tried logging into SSH several times, but it keeps rejecting the password. When I run system tests, they sometimes show a fan error and sometimes they don’t. Because of this inconsistent behavior, I’d like to know if there’s a way to manually spool up the fan without using SSH, just to confirm whether the fan is actually working properly.
