Is the WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo compatible with SSD drives?

I am a motion graphics developer and would like to add a couple SSD drives to replace the standard drives in the WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo that I own.

Can someone please tell if this is possible and if so, will the speed be significantly faster.

Thanks!

Will H.

Hello and welcome to the WD community.

I have not tried this, But on the user manual you can check and see what type of drive you can use to replace the internal drives on the unit. However lets see if another user has tried this and share some ideas and tips on this matter.

On the following link you will be able to see the type of drive that can be used to replace the internal drives:

Hope this helps you out.

Did you make any progress with this…it seems like a good idea

Found this… also thought it was a good idea as I had a new SSD that I wanted to use temporarily to make a back up of a nearly dead macbook drive. … MyBook firmware stopped me using drive by saying it is not supported. Sad times… had to use a slow USB 2 spinning drive back up took 4 hours.
