According to this post, Velociraptors are incompatible with backplanes.
Can WD confirm or deny that?
Hi just to say there are 2 different types on raptors one comes in a 3.5 ice pack the other is a stand alone drive. Some of the raptors just have a regular sata connection on the end of the drive but others have a backplane connection. With the icepack on, the raptor will work in a 3.5" backplane situation, as well as a standard sata situation. With it removed, it will be a 2.5" drive and will work with a 2.5" backplane.
