I’m trying to decide if I want to use the Public share. Is Public restricted to only users who have access to my network or is the location open to anyone who knows the path to the location?

The public share can only be accessed through you local network, this means that someone from a different network wont be able to access your files over the internet, unless you have the remote access feature setup and that person has access that you gave them to use remote access.
