Hi guys. im having problems with my EX2. I only have one drive in at the moment but the drive will spin up while its not been accessed. even when nothing is powered up on the network the drive spins up by its self and while any other computer is powered up other than the pc that I used to set up the NAS the drive will not shut down. im on the FW My_Cloud_KC2A_2.11.133. Does anybody have any ideas on whats going on and any help. Thanks in advance guys.
Did the EX2 perform normal before updating the firmware?
Do you have backups to usb drives so that you might be able to reset the EX2?
To be honest I had a different problem before the update. I had a Volume_1 error and was advised to contact customer support. But now after the FW update I don’t have the error so I put it down to FW problem. Yes I have backups to do a reset
Do you use DLNA or iTunes or Plex Media Server?
No m8 I dont
Did you then turned these off? DLNA and iTunes do indexing which can cause the EX2 do be active all the time.
Esp. Plex Media Server. Cloud access also is indexing and may hold the EX2 active

I just reset it should I have done a full reset and destroy data on drives aswell?
And have just turned off DLNA and iTunes
OK then check if the EX2 is always been active. disable and enable the hibernate feature once to be sure it is set up correctly
should I set static ip or leave DHCP

well I woke up twice last night and the drive was spinning for no reason. also a couple of time it took 20 minutes or so for the drive to stop spinning. I don’t know if that is normal… I have another NAS (not WD) and that behaves so I don’t think its the network…

No I don’t think so
This may be transmission or plex or antivirus…
I don’t have plex installed and it was the middle of night so everything was turned off so no antivirus
