Is it safe to unplug the drive from the WALL OUTLET when not in use

My drive’s vibration is bugging my ears & we leave teh computer on all teh time. Can I unplug it (the external drive) from the WALL OUTLET & just leave it still plugged in at the USB port or could this cause same type of problems as not ejecting safely ? (windows 8.1) I have a 10TB desktop drive. I did a web search & only got a million results on unplugging the USB port.

Hi @cssc,

My ears are sensitive to low frequency vibrations. I’m NOT saying there’s anything wrong with it.I just want the queston about unplugging ffrom the wall outlet answered & I DON’T felel like crawling under my desk to get teh serial number!!!
And of course it’s only vibrating more when it’s working (ripping dvd’s, downloading, whatever)
