Is it possible to change the HDD in myworldbook 1, blue ring?

is it possible?

if so, what format prog. needed? and how to?

thanks

Unfortunately, no, it is not possible to replace the drive in your unit.  The OS on the unit is loaded on the drive since there is no flash memory.  Without the drive the unit will not boot.

im aware of that but i think we can pre-image a HDD then install it.

i want to know if there’s any image (ROM) file out there to do this.

thanks

I haven’t used them myself and so can’t say anything about how useful they are, but you should be able to find a mybookworld wiki site that describes the steps for what you want to do.

The manual, which can be obtained from the WD downloads implies the HDD can be replaced and show the physical instructions. There is a menu option on the “Shared Storage Manager” application for formatting a new drive as well.

Those instructions are only for the two drive model. The single drive model isn’t designed to have the drive replaced.

I see, thank you for the clarification.
