Is it OK to use Gold drives with Red Pro drives in the same array?

Hello. in the past I purchased WD 8TB Red Pro drives, mainly for the warranties but also for the vibration tolerance. now it seems that 8TB Gold drives are cheaper while at the same time appear to be better drives overall.

I’m currently expanding some RAID 6 arrays as they are going from 4 bay to 8 bay enclosures. can expand those arrays that use 8TB Red Pro drives with 8TB Gold drives?

That’s up to your array manufacturers to tell you.

what are you talking about? i’m not upgrading server or anything like that. Red Pros are NAS drives. there are no “array manufacturers”, whatever that even means. i bought some diskless NAS enclosures and stuffed some drives in. now i’m asking if Red Pro and gold will coexist without problems.
