IP Address change - edit link at desktop icon for Dashboard - MAC

Hi,

I have recently disconnected my MyCloud device and then reconnected it to my network a few minutes later.

The IP address has thus changed. How do I edit the settings in my DB shortcut icon to the new ip address as it keeps directing me to the previous.

I have a Mac, running Mavericks.

Thanks

Midge

Hello,

You should delete this shortcut and then map the drive again.

How to map a WD network drive on a Mac

If you don’t want this to happen again, you can configure your drive with a static IP

How to configure a WD My Cloud or WD My Cloud EX4 Personal Cloud drive with a Static IP

Thanks for your response…

  1. But what is ‘mapping my device’? Not an IT guy, so do not understand the process. I have tried it however and followed the instructions as per the link, but it does not solve my problem.
  2. When I double click my desktop icon ‘WDMyCloudDashBoard.webloc’ it continues going to previously registered ip 10.0.0.5 and not new ip 10.0.0.6

Hi Midge4,

Do the following:

  1. Use TextEdit to open WDMyCloud-Dashboard.wbloc
  2. Change the property to the new IP address
  3. Save the file

I too had this issue and couldn’t find the solution published by WD’s support.
