Invalid serial on brand new 2Tb Red from Amazon

Before I open the sealed packaging I tried to check the warranty status on a brand new 2TB WD Red from Amazon and the serial number is not recognised. Are there issues in general with the WD site right now as I can’t see any of my registered products and am seeing occasional errors on the site (drive out of space came up once).

Before I take this up with amazon for selling a fake drive I wanted to check it wasn’t a genuine issue with the web site first.


As a recommendation, contact WD Support for direct assistance on this case as they will be able to check the drives warranty and confirm your product registration.

I’m thinking it’s an issue with the WD site. I just checked 2 different serial numbers - one purchased at MicroCenter and one from other world computing-both legitimate dealers. Both came up as invalid.
