I have a Toshiba Satillite L455D-S5976 laptop and wanted to replace the internal hard drive to a larger one.
I’m wondering if the WD Red WD10JFCX can be use as a normal HDD or if it is compatiable with my laptop.
Hi no they are meant for NAS and would be to thick to fit in a laptop. Your best bet for a laptop if you want good performance is a black laptop drive Now I checked the spec’s on that laptop it is sata 1.5Gb/s also it has a AMD CPU and graphic’s so most likely it has a AMD sata controller you may have a hard time getting any Sata 6 Gb/s drive to work in it as most Sata drive’s are 6 Gb/s and have no jumper’s to set them back to sata 1.5 Gb/s mode. This is a 500 gig black drive that is Sata 3 Gb/s it may work WD5000BPKT.
