Intel Chip Security Flaw?

I ran that Intel diagnostic and it says my 6100 has that Intel Security vulnerability. Intel® Management Engine Critical Firmware Update (Intel-SA-00086)

What are we 6100 owners supposed to do to fix it?? The Motherboard manufacturer issues the fix.

Thx!

Keep in mind with these vulnerabilities there will be TWO required fixes.

One is a BIOS upgrade which addresses part of the issue in CPU Microcode. (Or an OS microcode shim installed at every bootup, similar to how Linux can install CPU microcode.) Windows has done this in the past, but it’s rare.

But an OS Kernel-level patch will also be required.

Thx Tony. So how do we fix our Servers?

I have no idea who manufactured our MotherBoards.

Can we get someone from WD to pop into this thread? Most of our servers are still under warranty.

you should not be surfing the internet or reading email on your server

The Intel firmware updates that were out have been pulled. I doubt there will ever be any for WD boxes

I’d like for my server, still under warranty, to be patched for a massive security flaw.

Heheh… if you think this is “massive,” you aren’t paying attention.

Yeah, a patch is needed, but this is NOT the big deal that most ignoridiots are crying about.
