I’ve already threw some files onto the My Book drive. Is it safe to start installing WD Smartware? Will I loose my files on the drive? Thanks
They are separate, Smartware files will be stored on a hidden share you can’t normally see and it will completely ignore files on the other shares, so it is safe.
what pizza’s talking about is how it works on the my book live. on a direct attached drive, smartware makes its own visible folder and then backs up everything in it. but it will still completely ignore all the other files and folders on the external hard drive.
