I installed windows 8 the other week, and now my book is saying that I don’t have permission to access the files I have saved to the drive. I have used this drive as my primary since I only have a 60gb SSD for my boot drive. I just got a new 600gb Velociraptor that i want to transfer most of my files to so I can use the my book as a backup drive. What do I need to do to reaccess the data?
You’ll probably need to be an administrator and go into drive properties and change the sahring to full for everybody. You’ll have to google that. You may also need to Take Ownership. You might get better help at a Windows 8 forum like this one http://windows8forums.com/ The sharing with Vista and later got complicated.
