Just Make sure that you have your OS up to date, .net framework 4.0 and all the windows updates.
Also java and the flash player needs to be updated.
Also you can use the microsoft fix it and that should assist you.

Just been looking at your reply to the above and wondered if you coudl please help me - I’ve posted it as “Unable to Locate WD Sofware for Retrieval of Back Up”. Whilst my laptop detects the WD Passport and enables me to go in and access files it is not via the ‘WD’ softare so to speak and as a result it doesn’t display what I would term the WD dashboard / help / images. I’ve had a system restore recently - fortunately I had all my files backed up - and am now struggling to retrieve / reinstall those files. I’ve just downloaded Adobe and Java as suggested and I’ve checked that my OS (Windows XP (SP3) is up to date so I don’t know what to do next. Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
