Initial trouble?

Just received WDS500G2B0A through Amazon.

Installed Acronis True Image, but doesn’t recognize the drive.

Installed Dashboard, and it seems OK. But still S.M.A.R.T. analysis doesn’t run.

I also tried AOMEI backupper pro, but it could not crone the drive.

Should I return this and get the new one?

How is the new WD drive connected to your computer?
Did you open Windows Disk Management?
If Disk Management sees the drive you may need to “Initialize” the new drive. If it sees it it may tell you it needs to be initialized.
If you have it connected with a USB adapter the adapter might be hiding it from Windows. Try another USB port or another means of connecting it.
