I’ve just purchased the 3TB mycloud storage from WD and now wondering if its going to do what I need ! I’ve set it up and it seems to be importing photos from my camera roll - from my phone ? (it’s the phone app I set up) I’m wondering if it will upload the complete photo file, or the reduced file that is in my phone because i have optimised storage ? I have the full files on my iMac, but don’t how how transfer files from the iMac to the My Cloud storage … This is beginning to look a bit too technical ??
- WD does not make or list a 3TB personal cloud storage of any type anymore so this could be a used unit or refurbished from a third party seller.
- ‘mycloud’ is different from My Cloud Home (MCH) and there is a separate subforum dedicated to My Cloud. A 3TB version of My Cloud could be running a much older and deprecated OS3.
- You can simply look a the unit to tell whether it is a My Cloud or MCH. The MCH has a top white shell with a bottom silver checkered pattern shell.
Once you determined you have the right unit, please post in the correct subforum because the answers to your questions will be different, for example the webapp and mobile apps used for each OS are different.
Go to the landing page and you will see the separated listings and pictures of the units.

This is what I have just purchased from WD. See link below. I mistakenly said that I had purchased a 3TB My Cloud unit … it was in fact My Cloud Home.
I am having great trouble knowing how to add music files from my iTunes folder on my 2011 iMac.
I have looked at the different threads but finding it hard to grasp what to do.
I am not a novice where computers are concerned, but I am not an expert. The level of skill required to do this seems beyond me.
I’m getting to the point where I don’t think this is going to work. I have read so many threads where people have not been able to resolve problems like this. Most of the discussions seem to relate to Windows, which is not much help.
I am so used to everything working smoothly, and was really hopeful reading the advertising of this piece of hardware that I would be able to put all my music on it and stream to Sonos.
By the ay - there doesn’t appear to be a web app as such, just the online forum etc
Any suggestions ?

Please review the ‘Enable local Access’ video in the MCH video section which is produced by Western Digital Tech support. It allows you to copy all your photos from your iMac to the MCH.
