Importing files is a expensive process, most of us purchasing a NAS device, we have existing data to import.
Is this scenario possible.
I have a dropbox account and the same files on a USB drive.
Can I import the files from the USB drive which 2 -3x faster that syncing to dropbox.
Then after the import finishes start the dropbox import. Then stop it within a few minutes. Copy or move over the files copied from the usb drive over to the strucure made for dropbox. Then start the dropbox sync.
The goal here is have the dropbox sync recognizes the existing files and only copy over the deltas. I would hate to force a sync from scratch. Also, is the file system case senstive on the DUO?
I understand how to sync, my question was if the process described would work and thus save time with the sync process in terms of time. Its been more then almost 24 hours with the USB drive import, imagine the Dropbox sync which has the same files and time it work take compare the usb import. Ultimately, I want to minimize the time I spend on the sync process and “kind of” cheat the process a bit…
You will likely get more salient replies if you post to the correct My Cloud Home Duo subforum, however I suspect what you are trying to do with Dropbox will not save very much time because the version history may be different for files on the USB and Dropbox and you will end up syncing everything from Dropbox in the end. Link to MCH Duo subforum and search for Dropbox.
