iMac (Mid 2007) & WD3200AAJS

I’ve an iMac from mid 2007. It came with a 320 GB WD 3200AAJS which finally failed. I bought a new WD3200AAJS and installed it. On boot up, the iMac displays the folder with a “?” in it, meaning it can’t see the drive. Putting in the old drive it is found, so it isn’t cables or installation. Plugging in an external drive, that shows up on boot up. Elsewhere on Internet, I find the suggestion of a putting jumper on pins 5 & 6, which I did. Also displays the folder with “?” so no resolution there. Are there known jumper settings which will reduce the data transfer rate from the new drive to something the iMac can handle?

Hello,

This drive has a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface. What is the interface on your IMac?

Hamlet,
Specs say “Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s.” Hence, I believed it would be
found.
