If an authorized third-party reseller of an HGST drive goes out of business, who is responsible for the remaining OEM warranty period

An authorized reseller advertises an OEM warranty of five years.for an HGST brand hard drive. What happens to the five years of protection if the seller goes out of business? I have been told there is no formal procedure by which to honor an OEM warranty of five years advertised by seller with the drive, if the authorized reseller goes out of business.
