Seems that this Idea lab is a good idea not used buy WD. The status of the ideas havn’t been updated in a while. Do we think it is a case that they just look at all the things we all want and then put it in the next version of the WD TV so we will go and buy it again?
The problem with the Ideas Lab is simply that there are not enough WD staff assigned to monitor it.
Just as there’s seemingly only Bill moderating the ENTIRE discussion community, there seems to be just one guy in charge of monitoring all ideas (not just for the WDTV line but for all product lines).
Currently there are over 530 active Ideas just for the WD TV Live, not including those yet to be “Acknowledged”. They simply don’t have (or won’t assign) the resources to manage it effectively. duplicate ideas are added almost daily and get flagged as acknowledged instead of Duplicate (only 15 duplicates tagged as such so far out of dozens if not hundreds).
As for whether some ideas will make it into future units, I’m pretty sure that will be the case. For the time being, the goal seems to be to add into the Live whatever features can realistically be added. It’s just a painfully slow process.
Hmm… Perhaps my above post will turn out to be correct after all. WD just confirmed the WDTV Live Plus. I wonder how many of the features asked for here will be implemented in the new product to try and tempt us over?

with the new beta firmware on the live the only difference between the live and the plus is netflix.
