the issue at hand i s i tried to write a file to my note book then it said failure to write then i tried to safely remove it and it wouldnt let me so i restarted my comp now my computer wont regester the external and also the light on the front wont quit blinking… what do i do how to i restore my files is everything i lost? help me please
First, you posted this in the wrong place; you should probably post it in one of the forums here:

but second, if you didn’t back up your data, and your drive is indeed dead, then yes, everything is lost.
There are data recovery services out there, but be prepared to spend a lot of money…
What external drive do you have? How did you do the backup? Check in Disk Management and tell us if the drive shows up there.
