I can't access my private folders on my EX2 from windows file explorer

Hello

Current setup:

What I have right now are two windows 8.1 machines, a router, and a Mycloud EX2 all connected to a switch box.

Want:

To put files from either computer on the EX2 under a private folder and not a public folder.

Problem:

Only under the “Public” Folder on the EX2 can both computers put files in.

When the I try to access a private folder in windows file explorer, Windows gives me this Windows security box.jpg

I have no idea what the user name or password is.

I have put in the folder’s name as the username with no luck,

Can someone help me?

Thanks

First, you’re in the wrong forum.   The EX2 has its own forum here:

If it’s a private folder, it has to have a user associated with it.   And that user must have a password.   You’d have set all that up when you created the users in the EX2’s setup.

also if you connect to a public share 1st that will be all you can connect to

a user on a PC can only connect as a single user to a remote computer at a time, start with public then that is who you are
