I Can't access 1TB WD Portable hard drive in Windows 7

Hi all,
i have a 1TB WD portable hard disk that I’ve been using without problems for around half a year but when I switched on my computer today, it causes my computer to freeze and is inaccessible. It is used to be named as storage but now it is Local Disk instead. When I tried to click/ rightclick it, it causes my computer to freeze so I can’t format it as well.

I have done the following to solve the issue but the problem still exists:-

  1. I have reinstalled “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”.
  2. I have reinstalled WD SES Device Driver.
  3. When I check the properties of the Hard Drive in the Device Manager, It gives me “This device is working properly”.
  4. When I tried to Select the hard drive form the Disk Management. It hangs the Computer Management program.
  5. I tried to access the Hard Drive from another laptop but, the issue still exists.

Please how to solve this issue as it has a very critical backup.
Any help is appreciated.

Best Regards,
Mostafa yasin

Hi,

Have you tried using a different USB cable? If not, please try that.

Hi,
I changed the cable but the problem still exists. I think it is hardware failure. I will attach the result of gsmartcontrol tool.

Thanks.
