I cannot connect a 1 TB External Hard Drive to a WD TV Live Media Player?

Why I cannot connect a 1 TB External Hard Drive (WD My Passport Essential)  to a WD TV Live Media Player (WDBAAP0000NBK)?

Can anybody help me on this?

It should work, this drive is compatible with your WD TV. Can you elaborate a bit  more, do you get an error? Have you tried all the USB port of the device?
