I can not run 2 My Book Essentails on one Windows 7 pc

Hi

When i try to run 2 my book essentials on one windows 7 pc, it will only register the first one connected. The second does appear in the installed software but states that it is empty, when it is not, and does not dow a drive letter.

it also appears in device manager with exactly the same name as the first.

I assume this is something to with the fact that they are identical, but i can not fin anything or anyway to change this. I rename one but this had no effect.

Help would be appreciated.

Chris

Right click on My Computer in the start menu, choose “manage”

Go to “disk management”, in the left hand panel

Assuming both drives are regonised in that list (probably as Disk 1 and Disk 2), right click on the one which doesn’t have a letter such as ( E: ) written on it, choose “Change drive letter and paths”.

That’ll probably fix it. If not, please provide a screenshot of the Disk Management window, with the drives visible, and we’ll go from there.

edit: The automatic smilies really don’t help. I wanted : ), not

Try this:

connect both drives, then go to Disk Management:

Here, you should see both drives, and under Disk # of the drive that is not seen, right click and choose ONLINE (mostlikely will be showing OFFLINE). After this both drives should be visible.

Hope it helps!!!
