I try to change the format to exFat and press erase, but when it is done the format window changes back to MS-DOS Fat and the information which was on the hard drive is still there. What should I do to format it so I can later work with it both with Mac and PC?

Are you using any specific application to format the unit?
You can try using the WD DLG tool to write zeros to the unit and then initialize the drive to give the unit the format that you want?
I’m sorry, I do not understand what writing zeros means… could you guide me step by step through formating my WD?
