I had the older model, but it died. Okay, fine. I loved it and assumed this new one would work the same.
I have spent a good twelve hours arguing with this new My Cloud Home. So far, I’ve encountered:
1 - Worked fine for a couple hours. Did a reboot, and it’s been stuck on a solid white LED ever since. Done several power downs and reboots, no fix.
2 - Plex has proven to be useless. I’ve had to sign in to the service twice, giving me two different My Cloud Homer servers, meaning I had to delete one of those.
I can get PLEX to send FLAC files to my receiver, but that’s it. No WAVS, no AIFS.
At best, I can play files THROUGH Plex, but I don’t know what I’m getting. I just want to send my music files directly to my devices without any encoding in between.
3 - All of this insanity has led me to this conclusion: there’s essentially no good way to directly stream your content to your devices.
I added the music folder to my Windows Media Player server directly. I can access the folders through my receiver and other devices, but they just tell me that the folders are empty.
Did WD break everything that made the older model worth using?
