Hung WD TV Live Hub

Lately my Live Hub has been acting up rather oddly, having not done a software up in a while I would notice that Hulu would cause my device to freeze up and the occassional media library compile would cause it to act funky.

However a device reset or power off/on always resolved it. This morning I decided to upgrade from 3.06 to 3.10 for my firmware via USB.

This apparently was a bad mistake. Very bad mistake.

I initiated the firmware update from the menu and the device rebooted. It hung at the WD TV logo with the power light flashing rapidly. I let it sit for a hour, no change. Not good.

I unplugged the power, removed the flash drive, and restored the power. WD TV logo comes up, power light remains solid. That’s all it does now. It just sits there. Waiting for… who knows what.

I tried hitting the reset pin for 3 seconds under the device – no change. Still not booting up.

The device is well past its warranty period so it looks like, I just need confirmation here, that I have a dead streamer and am forced to go out and get a new one. Which really really bites.

Have you anything else connected to the player other than the TV, if so try disconnecting it.

Now I wish I could remember but can’t but seems to me I read somewhere here there was a “trick”  that involved the OK button while booting up the hub. I’m thinking it forced the FW update to finish if the USB drive with the FW on it is in the port at boot.

Anyone?

Nope. I have nothing else other than a HDMI cable and power cable hooked up to the unit

Thanks for the link! I immediately sprung into action and tried those things, but alas… no love here.

I ordered a Pivos AIOS instead (I was only using it to stream files I was bringing in at this point), Amazon Saturday delivery… should be here tomorrow.
