Hub disk failure

I have an original 1Tb Hub and the disk has failed. I want to buy a replacement drive because it takes so long for the Hub to boot without a functioning internal disk.

I can’t find the same 1Tb drive. Will the old 1Tb Hub recognise a 2Tb internal disk. Are the new 2Tb Hubs the same internally as the old ones? Do they just use some packing to fill the space for the thinner 2Tb drive. I have the choice of a 750Gb or 2Tb disk. I’m not sure if I can exchange the 2Tb disk if it isn’t compatible with the Hub. Has anybody done a 1Tb to 2Tb upgrade.

Thanks.

A couple of threads discuss this scenario.

Thanks for the reply. Both of those threads are old; before 2Tb 2.5" drives and the 2Tb Hub were available. It seems that the 2Tb Hub was short lived and the Hub has now totally disappeared from WDs product listing. I was hoping that somebody had recent experience with replacing a Hub HD.

My warranty expired a long time ago and I had about 300 Gb of flac files synced to the internal disk. If nobody has fitted a 2Tb disk into an old Hub, I may just buy the 750 Gb disk and use some packing to stop it moving around.
