How to wake up WD My Cloud when Windows wakes up from sleep

Hello everyone!

I recently bought WD My Cloud 4TB, and my plan is to back up files and folders from my two Windows 7 computers by using AOMEI Backupper software. One of my computers is HTPC, and it is usually in sleep mode (S3) when not in use. So, I have these schedules that wake up my HTPC computer and do the backup. However, the backup software cannot write to WD My Cloud. And that’s because those shared folders have red cross when I open explorer.

However, the red cross goes away when I access those shares via Windows Explorer (My Cloud wakes up then), and if I try and run my backup manually now, it doesn’t have any problems.

So the problem is that when Windows 7 wakes up from sleep, the network shares do not refresh unless manually clicking them with explorer. Has anyone solved this problem so that their scheduled backups to WD My Cloud work? I guess I should create a scheduled task that refreshes those network shares somehow, and I actually even have a schedule that happens every time my windows wakes up (it writes a small text file (and then deletes it) to My Cloud), but that doesn’t seem to refresh those network shares.

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

I’ve been using this for years and works perfectly.

I call that app via windows task sceduler, when my pc wakes up.

The windows task is setup based on looking for a log entry of windows event viewer.

i can provide my windows task if you need. I can export it from my PC as a .xml file that you can then import and then modify as per your need.
