I just purchased a brand new WD My Passport Ultra 5TB external drive, and since the Mac version of the drive was out of stock at the time, I figured I would just take the extra step of re-formatting before use, as I’ve done with plenty of other HDDs formatted for Windows. However, I am unable to view this drive in Disk Utility at all (yes, I’ve checked ‘Show All Devices’ on the View menu).
Can anyone offer any advice? The drive definitely powers up (light is flashing, and I can feel the hum of the drive spinning). It’s just not visible to the file system.
