How to Upgrade Firmware Of WD Red Drives?

I noticed that WD has released a new version of the " WD Red SMART load/Unload utility 3.5" Drive" which modifies when the drive enters it’s power down state.  This looks like something we should implement on our drives.  Since mine are installed in my EX2, how can I do this update?

I do NOT want to remove the drives and install them in my PC.

(The update can be seen here → http://support.wd.com/product/download.asp?groupid=619&sid=201&lang=en )

Then, you can’t.

Vertech1 - Why do you call it “new” version? The date says it was released 5 months ago.

And have you tried the Linux install instructions on it yet, even though the firmware OS is not a full Linux distribution? It might not work…or it might.

It’s compiled for Intel architecture, so it won’t work on ARM architecture-based NASes.

Aah, yes…thanks, TonyPh12345.
