How to "unlog" to log in with different credentials?

NAS 8TB Sharespace

One of our computers was logged on using the credentials of the public group that has read only privileges to some of the NAS directories. Unfortunately, the box was checked to remember this user and password. Now how can you make the system “forget” these credentials to enter credentials of another login name and password to have the necessary privileges for full access to a certain directory?

Certain computers on the LAN run WinXP others Win7

Suggestions are very welcome! Thank you!

I usually just restart a computer if I want to change logins- it’s a quick easy solution. This is actually caused by a bug in Windows that’s existed since the dinosaur age, and can occur with many different kinds of NAS devices.
