How to recover data from wd element 1tb (mac) formatted disk

 Hi,

I have an IMAC with this external wd elements 1tb drive which got quick formatted. As per my editor who was using my IMAC he quick formatted the wrong drive. WD software even asked him for the backup so he chose DECIDE IT LATER and quick formatted it… I seriously need help …What to do?  The drive had two partitions which are not there and the dirve is in whole that 999GB (Blank)… So all the data is gone. Could you please tell me whats this decide it later (option) which he chose? and what to do to recover 100% data i.e footages (.Mov files) and final cut pro. projects in it.?

Please Help me out at your earliest convenience.

Regards,

Ronan

Recovering deleted partitions is possible. You’ll need a powerful tool for that. There’s many software available ( search on Google)

If previously used  Mini Tool Data Recovery

If that does not work you will need to use another software or get help with  a Data Recovery Company.

Minitool Data Recovery is only able to 1GB data under Free Edition, so I guess the help is limited as to Ronanz’s 999 GB lost data. There are 2 Mac data recovery programs recommended here,

TestDisk - 100% freeware, a cross-platform data recovery software that has been tested and proven. The only drawback is maybe it works through command line with black screen (DOS) environment. See here,

Data Recovery for Mac - commercial software but also works great to rescue data on Mac with 3 featured functions. In “Ronanz” case, take a try “Lost Partition Recovery”. The good point of this program: easy to use (with GUI) and powerful. The bad point: not freeware.

Anyway, no matter what program to take, finding back the lost data is most important. Best regards.
