How to rebuild a MyBook Live with a new HDD

I have a MBL WDBACG0010HCH whose HDD failed. Can I put a similarly sized 1 TB WD HDD drive in it and get it working again as an Ethernet-based MBL? I have been able to gently open the case and connected the HDD to an external dock and it failed the WD Data LifeGuard tests.

 Help, please.

I’ve put a smaller HDD (500 GB) drive, freshly reformatted as a single partition. The MBL LED turns from blue to yellow and, while my Win11 laptop does see “something” it doesn’t have an IP address, only the MAC address shows up. Also, the MBL setup software does not see it on the network.

:+1: Thanks, Chris. Unless I can find a new drive inexpensively, I think I’ll retire the MBL for recycling. I appreciate the clear directions.
