How to read S.M.A.R.T. info using WD SmartWare?

Hello,

I’ve bought WD My Passport Essentials SE 1TB. I use Mac OS X Lion (10.7), and have installed WD SMartware as usually. It can see the disk, it even does something when I ask it to query for SMART status or to perform SMART tests. But how can I read the results of its doings? As of now, I see only the progress bar and a message saying that something has been done. Or is it just a UI emulation of the operation, and the real operation is just ignored and not done?

Just to clarify, I’ve tried to use smartmontools 5.41 from MacPorts, and it works for my primary drive (built-in). But it cannot see the WD My Passport drive over the USB. Windows can. So, this is why I’m trying to use your SmartWare software to retrieve SMART info (with no success yet).

Thanks.

Dude, Smartware has not been updated for Lion yet, so I don’t think it’s going to work for a while.
