How To: Make Your MyCloud Fast Again on v04.04.00-307 Firmware

Here’s how I resolved my slow OS 3 upgraded My Cloud

  1. Open the UI

  2. Turn off Remote Access (Cloud Service)

  3. Turn off iTunes Server

  4. Turn off DNLA Media Server

  5. Enable SSH

  6. Login as root

  7. Run this command to find all the .wdmc folders

    find / -name .wdmc

  1. Now delete then all

    rm -rf  /path/toyour/.wdmc

  1. Reboot the system from the console once the deletions are completed

    reboot

  1. Content Scanning should start.

  2. When Content Scan completes, turn on Remote Access (Cloud Service)

It may be possible to do a mass removal of the .wdmc directory by using one of the commands from the command line. Note use at your own risk. Not quite sure which one worked but ran both and there are no longer any .wdmc folders listed via the find command.

find / -name .wdmc -exec rm {} ;

Or

find / -name .wdmc -type d -exec rm -rf {} ;

why should the average user need to know these commnads.  Its a shame really.   I was always looking foward to an update to speed up file transfer speeds but this new firmware does not seem to be the answer.

mine is’nt slow it just won’t let me drag and drop like it did before the update on friday

I’ve tried taking ownership, changed permissions (which it don’t allow) i have no idea what else to do…

it’s a my cloud 4tb drive connected to router via cable

I’m using windows 10

Just heard from support, no help as yet

How do you downgrade software? as this problem only arose since the new firmware on friday, i’ve never messed with this device or had issues before

Any help, suggestions would be appreciated greatly

Thanks in advance
