How to Make Drives Readable outside WD MyBook Duo?

Obviously, I have the WD My Book Duo. when I bought it back in the Summer 2016, I set two disks inside (2x 2TB WD Red) in JBOD, formatted in ExFAT (through Apple’s Disk Utility). Disks are now full and I changed them with new empty disks (2x TB WD Red) but the full disks are not readable in the external disk enclosure I bought (LC Power 3,5 disk enclosure).

My plan from the start was to avoid Raid1, to do mirroring on my own so that the disks would then be readable by other disk enclosures (had the same problem with Synology, that’s why I opted for different setup) - even though I did not use any of the WD software to prepare the disks. I would like to know how to prepare disks properly so that they are readable by other enclosures as well.

Looking forward to your help,

Jure
