How to install a 3TB WD 30EZRX green on Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe?

Hi all!

I just bought myself the mentioned 3TB WD 30EZRX (-00DC0B0) green to use it as a data disk in my System.

I have an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Mainboard, Bios version 1405, running Windows 7 Professional on my primary HD, an WD2500JB.

(yes, old mainboard)

I put the new drive on my SATA-1 controller slot and booted.

Now i run into some troubles: the BIOS as well as windows read the drive as only having 800 (746)GB, also the bios post screen told me about the new drive “HD s.m.a.r.t. able, but command not understood” (i forgot to write down the exact phrase :frowning: )

Question; Is there any way to get it running with full capacity?

I don´t need it as a boot disk or other fancy stuff, i just want to store data. I am also not afraid of serious tinkering with software tools…

A short internet search told me, that the Asus unlocker tool, wich could possibly unlock the disk space, does not officially support my chipset.

I DID find that Seagate offers a software called  “disk wizard”, but i could not find anything like that from WD.

So, expert help is appreciated

*edit* I forgot to check “email if reply”, is there any way to activate that after posting?

Try checking with the mother board manufacturer to see if any updates available for the Bios.

You might also need a  new controller card to overcome this limitation.
