Hi Does anyone know how to download folders from WD Cloud? I’ve been storing all my photos on here and just realised I cannot find any function that allows me to download folders! I can only download one picture at a time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Very nervous with the WD as having a lot of issues.
On the Online log in I have found a download button for the folders but then the next problem is that half my holders are missing when I log in online and are only available on the app where I cannot find any folder download button? Any help would be great! Thank you
there is no option to download folders, we need an elevation to the WD dev team
Downloading folders from a WD My Cloud device can be accomplished through the web interface or a file manager. Access the device’s web interface, log in, navigate to the desired folder, select it, and look for a “Download” or “Download as ZIP” option.
This allows you to download the entire folder and its contents. Alternatively, you can use a file manager like Windows File Explorer or macOS Finder, connect to the WD My Cloud device as a network location, and then drag and drop folders to your local machine.
Ensure your WD device is properly configured for network access and that you have the necessary permissions.
It may seem easier to necrobump a 4 year old thread but there are more than 8 ways to download folders on the My Cloud Home and you have already asked the same question on many of the subforums.
Some of the many different ways are built into MCH or free apps on the mobile devices and described all over the subforums.
The My Cloud Home is more than 6 years old and in many ways near its EOL expectancy and at this point it is more about deprecating features and making the device more secure than expanding features that is duplicated by others or may make it more vulnerable to attack.
if you today have no problem with this functionality, I am a former mycloud customer and I invested in the PR4100 to facilitate the daily work of my colleagues, so if you are not interested in this functionality you are not concerned by my post.
You are posting in the wrong subforum on a topic and a My Cloud Home device that is very different from the PR4100 and on a time frame during which there had been 66 firmware updates which altered the functionality of the My Cloud Home.
There is no similarity between the MCH from 4 or 6 years ago and the one today - different OS (from Anrdroid to Debian), about 10 versions of Samba and numerous differences in support software functionality.
You should ask the question in the subforum that services your device.
These are newbie questions, but no, it is designed this way it is to reduce shared bandwidth congestion on WD’s relay servers. Synology does the same with their Quickconnect since there is no feature to download files en mass by folder as is using Synology relay servers either.
There must be a dozen ways using the device owner’s own VPN set up and tunnels that can copy files and folders en mass at high speed, just not using the manufacturer’s bandwidth which is supplied gratis for their inexperience customers.
